Fruits of Our Labor

Monday is Labor Day in the US, so most Americans are celebrating the holiday and the unofficial end of summer with a three-day weekend.

When I was a child (back in the old days), this holiday was the last taste of summer freedom before school began, typically the following day. Today, most schools head back to the classroom in late August for reasons that remain beyond my comprehension.

If you're a regular, you've noticed it's been a month or more since my last post. I've been busy on every front, juggling a wide variety of work-related projects and chugging like the little engine that could to meet some very challenging deadlines.

Since something had to give, small bits of spare time went toward knitting rather than blogging. I haven't a lot to show for it, but in honor of the last major red, white and blue holiday of the summer season, I thought I'd share this. (Brace yourself, the photo is pretty sorry.)
Ever so slowly, the red, white and blue collection continues to grow. Many of these you've seen as works in progress or in other group shots, but some are new and all are reversible. I'm sure as time passes a few more pieces will join the crowd, since according to my research there are nearly 20 national holidays that center around the American flag one way or another.

Wherever you are, I hope you had a lovely weekend, and you took a moment to enjoy the fruits of your labor. I'll be back again soon, I promise, and I hope you will be, too.
