Are You That Knitter?

There are knitters out there who are highly organized. Their yarn is sorted, tidy, labeled and contained. Their stash fits obediently into its designated home, with nary a stray skein in sight.

Their WIPs are neatly tucked into a basket, project bag or drawer. Their needles are in the original package or possibly a custom case or handmade needle roll. You know, the one they whipped up last evening, right after they finished the train-length lace veil knit from the yarn they managed to spin during their lunch hour.

They have knitting books, magazines and patterns neatly cataloged, shelved and instantly retrievable. They have never, and cannot imagine, how someone (who shall remain unnamed) might accidentally buy two copies of the same magazine or pattern.
Their Ravelry stash database is up to date, and their yarn and project photos are crisp, clear and color accurate. They have every swatch they’ve ever knit, carefully stored and clearly labeled to indicate the yarn name, type, weight, needle size, stitch pattern and care instructions.

I know there are knitters like that. I am not one of them. Are you?

How do I know I'm not that knitter? The picture that was supposed to go with this post is trapped in the camera, but here's an example from an earlier one. Yes, feel free to laugh!

    1. Same here, Evelyn. I wish had their patience and discipline, but sadly I don't ... Guess we'll just have to muddle through, right?

  2. I'm half of that knitter. The half that has her needles organized. OK, maybe that makes me one eighth that knitter. LOL!!

    1. Sounds like the perfect mix to me: one-eighth "that knitter" nicely blended with plenty of "not that knitter!"

  3. I'm not the knitter either! I can (usually) find my needles, pattern and yarn for current WIPs. Otherwise, all bets are off ...

    1. As long as you can find your current WIPs, I'd say you're in very good shape!

  4. I have to admit that Ravelry saved me in helping me to sort out the mess that was my knitting stash. I'm trying to list all my yarn on the stash site so that I at least know what I have before I go out and buy more. Also like the Library page and try to put all my books and downloaded patterns there.

    1. So true, Ravelry has been a great help, and it sounds like you're making the most of it. Good for you, Carol (wish I were that disciplined!).

    1. Aren't you kind? Thank you, knits knots. And yes, if intentions count then I too am that knitter.
