FO | Every Stitch a Prayer

I’m playing a bit of catch-up here. I finished this project last August, but I’m just now getting around to posting the FO details.

I made this prayer shawl for my sweet, lovely Aunt K just to let her know I’m always thinking of her. Soon she’ll turn 83 years old, and she’s been dealing with multiple health challenges.

Once the shawl was finished, blocked and ready to deliver, I made a custom card featuring this photo of her prayer shawl and explaining the general concept.

What's very interesting is this: Shortly after I delivered the shawl, she experienced a rather remarkable turnaround, and today she's feeling and looking better than she has in a long time.

Is it coincidence? Or the magic power of hand knits made with love?

Highlights
Pattern:  Weaver’s Wool Mini Shawl (adapted)
Yarn: Rowan Wool Cotton 4-Play
Yardage: 394 yards
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm)

Modifications
Seed stitch border on all edges to prevent curling
Smaller dimensions to suit tiny Aunt K

Yarn
The Wool Cotton 4-ply is soft and easy to work with, and in this weight, it produced a shawl that's light, soft and drapey. Just right for this project.

  3. Have to agree with all of you. Plus, when the recipient uses or sees the item and knows it was made just for them, that's a powerful reminder of how much they're loved. Right?
