Until now, that is.
Originally, I'd planned to do six cable strips in six different colors. I finished the first five strips rather quickly (for me), then the project stalled. Why? I can't decide whether I like the teal, the sixth color designated for this stashbusting effort.
The afghan will work without a sixth strip, so the issue here isn't size, it's color.
The teal, which is beautiful in person, seems to tilt the color balance in an unexpected way. The best way I can explain it is that even such a small sample dominates the color scheme completely, turning the mostly-blue-with-a-hint-of-green afghan into something much more closely approaching half green and half blue.
I've changed my mind so many times, I feel a bit dizzy. So, I'm seeking counsel from you, my fellow fiberists. Should I keep knitting the teal strip, or quit while I'm ahead?
You tell me ...
It's Wednesday, you know the drill. Visit Tami's Amis and Small Things to see lovely works in progress.
I like the teal. And I love the blanket!!
ReplyDeleteI like teal and I'm sure by it's self looks great, but I'm not sure I like it with the other colors you've got going there. I'm going to agree with you it does send your blanket it a blue/green direction.
ReplyDeleteWhile the teal is such a beautiful color, I think it throws your other blues off. Your blanket is going to be soooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI like the color, but it definitely 'balances' the blanket. I think you really need an odd number of strips to make the look more artistically balanced, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteLovely group of colors. I like the teal.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Flyingien, Evelyn and Steph. The teal is quite pretty, but it definitely tilts the color balance toward green. I say leave it out.
ReplyDeleteI like the teal color, but I'm not sure it works with the other blues. It would be interesting to see if changing the layout of the blues that are immediately next to it affects how it works with the other colors.
ReplyDeleteLovely colors, can't wait to see the blanket finished.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd prefer it without. Because the teal is so intense it does compete against all the other colours. It's beautiful though!
ReplyDeleteI like the teal on its own but you're right, it does through off the colour balance a bit. I wonder what it might look like somewhere else in the sequence.
ReplyDeleteI like the teal with the others. I say keep it.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the blues together. And odd numbers always work best - so, loose the teal :)
